Ever taken a leap of faith? Ill equipped to do a task on your own, but you just went for it!
As I read the story of Jesus’ birth through Mary, I’m astonished! She dared to believe what the angel Gabriel said that she would bring forth the long prophesied Messiah!
26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. - Luke 1:26-27, 30-31, 38
Although Mary was initially fearful of the news, the angel Gabriel reassured her that she had found favor with God.
We too have and will face times when we may be fearful of news that suddenly comes. In Mary’s case it was the Good News of Jesus Christ, which was also GOOD news for us!
However, for many of us, the news we hear today is not good. But God!
If we like Mary can take that leap of faith with our prayers to believe everything God has declared to us through Scripture, we too can say like Mary said to Gabriel: Let it be to me according to your word.”
Mary said “yes” to God despite how she felt.
When Mary said those words the angel departed. Why? Because Mary said “yes” to God despite how she felt.
As we go through the Christmas season with our fears, doubts, maybe even regrets, let us not forget to rejoice knowing that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, is a Man of His Word.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? - Numbers 23:19 KJV
Be it according to HIS WORD!
Be Encouraged and Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!
