Exemptions are only on tax forms…claim God!
That was a comment made by a patient I spoke with last year, but seems highly appropriate as we enter into the tax season.
We all love exemptions especially ones that can give us a break on our taxes.
However, when it comes to the Lord, we can’t afford to write Him off.
We need to claim God!
As much as our broken world would like to exempt God from the public square in every way, they can’t.
God is sovereign.
And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the LORD: “O LORD, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. - 2 Kings 19:15
“I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. - Job 42:2
Believers too, can take on an attitude of exempting the Lord from certain aspects of their life.
It may be in the form of not sharing the love of Christ when given an opportunity.
Maybe it’s with a co-worker who is unpleasant.
The truth is, we all have areas of our life that we would like God to be exempt from.
No Audit
Usually when people have too many exemptions on their tax returns, it raises a red flag with the IRS and results in an audit.
But, when you claim God in your life, you never have to worry about an audit!
My patient was right….
We should claim God and leave the exemptions to Uncle Sam!
Be Encouraged!
