My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. - Psalm 73:26
Today would have been my mother’s 99th birthday. Wow!…I can’t believe it’s been 16 years since she passed.
Tears still well up thinking and even writing about her.
Such is that delicate relationship between mothers and daughters.
When I read Psalm 73:26 today, it reminded me that as we go through different life stages, especially grief, that God is our strength. From experience, I can tell you that is not a Christian cliché.
God is a revealer of the thoughts and intents of our heart.
So intimately, does He know our hearts and heartbreaks. The Lord is very well acquainted with all of our ways, and understands how we feel and why we feel a certain way when those difficult emotions rise up.
The Lord really is our STRENGTH.
I also recall the Scripture in Revelation 21:4 that tells us the Lord will wipe away all of our tears.
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So, I want to encourage you that if you’re going through a hard season, whether it’s because you’ve lost a loved one, or grieving the loss of a relationship, to not draw away from God.
The Enemy of your soul wants to isolate you. But, the psalmist reminds us in verse 28 of this psalm:
But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all Your works.
As you and I draw closer to the Lord, trusting Him, in our times of weakness, He is faithful to draw closer to us.
You’ll come to realize that God is your strength, that will be made make PERFECT in weakness!
Be Encouraged!
