Hearing the disheartening news of the sudden passing of the gifted actor Chadwick Boseman, made me think about living our lives on purpose.
It’s impossible for someone to be in Christ and not be fruitful.
He was a very talented young man and gave not only so much to his acting craft but also to others in need. He was intentional about how he lived. It’s a page we should all read from.
Followers of Christ have a mandate from God to be intentional about what we do for Him and for His glory.
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16
It’s impossible for someone to be in Christ and not be fruitful. But how can we be fruitful and live our life on purpose?
How to be fruitful and Live your life on purpose for God:
1. Acknowledge the Lord in what you do every day. This can be as simple as talking to your Heavenly Father in prayer throughout the day – Proverbs 3:5-6; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 2 Timothy 1:3; Romans 1:9
2. Be intentional. This is easier said than done. Many of us lead busy lives, pulled in different directions. But if we set our minds with an attitude of doing anything as unto the Lord, it will help us to be intentional. Colossians 3:23
3. Just say no. Busy doesn’t mean fruitful. Sometimes to be fruitful you have to prune away stuff that isn’t growing.
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. - John 15:2 NIV
When we begin living our lives on purpose for God, the outcome will be productive. The fruit we produce in the task given to us by the Lord will be fruit that remains in Him.
Be Encouraged!
