Jesus was definitely the Lord of the Harvest when it comes to bearing fruit! In many of his teachings, He often used farming/harvesting language to illustrate His points. The purpose of any seed that drops into the ground is to reproduce.
Jesus illustrated to the crowds that gathered a word picture of His upcoming death. However, this was also an illustration for us as believers on how we should live our lives in Christ.
Paul said it best in Philippians 1:21 – that to live is Christ, to die is gain.
Jesus’ death at Calvary was an example of His love for everyone. His death signified to us dying to ourselves and our old way of thinking and doing things.
When we live our lives for Christ right now in this world, it will have eternal significance. We can bear fruitful harvest with our life witness to others through our love. This, in turn, will glorify God!
