One of my favorite spots to read and just soak in the Scriptures is sitting by my bay window. As I look out, I find myself caught up in the beauty of distraction from God’s creation.
I’m distracted by the Lord’s beauty, watching the sparrows flit about from a nearby bush.
Just looking at the blue sky on a clear day is enough to make me just forget for a moment the drudgery of everything else for just a moment.
Truly the psalmist was spot on when he said heaven and earth declare the glory of God.
The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. - Psalm 19:1
With all of the troubling distractions we’re hit with everyday, it’s refreshing to have my attention diverted by the Lord’s handiwork.
David must have understood this too, even as he was constantly being chased and distracted by his enemies.
He recognized that sometimes you need to be still and know that God can show up in the unexpected places of our lives.
Whether it’s hard season or our daily routine, it’s important to just stop for moment and smell the daisies.

To be still and recognize the Lord’s presence in the midst of your day.
I want to allow God to distract me from the cares of this world while I stare out my window looking at the clouds stroll by in the sky.
To be able to stay in His presence, fully realizing that God is in control of everything. As David said in Psalm 16:11 in His presence is fullness of joy!
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
So the next time you see God’s handiwork, take in the beauty of that distraction. Bask in His presence and let Him reveal Himself to you in a fresh and new way!
Be Encouraged!
