Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. - Hebrews 12:2
Not only did Jesus despise the shame of the Cross, He endured the suffering and physical pain that went along with it. The Cross of Endurance was not comfortable!
Jesus didn’t die on a padded Cross.
The amount of physical pain the Lord experienced on our behalf is inconceivable.
We are always so quick to speak about the blessings of God, and there are many. In contrast, we don’t hear much about is the Cross and how much was endured by Christ for us to have those blessings.
Remembering how Jesus died and why He died is not just an Easter weekend event.
The Cross He suffered on our behalf, should give us the strength to run our race with endurance.
“Come Away My Beloved” author, Frances J. Roberts puts it well when she said:
Hold to His Words, for they are as a nail driven in a sure place.
