“What country am I living in?” This was the question my friend, who is a military wife, posed while we were texting back and forth about the events of the past few days. My immediate reply was we’re living in the “divided states of America”.
When I read the words to the Pledge of Allegiance, I’m dumbfounded at how far we’ve strayed as a nation just in the past year and certainly months from those first few lines:
I Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America
And to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God
Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all
It’s disheartening to see our nation divided on so many levels. This division isn’t just relegated to the world system, but the divisions are becoming more clear within the Body of Christ.
We can’t ignore Jesus’ words in Luke 11:17 (NKJV):
But He, knowing their thoughts, said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and a house divided against a house falls.
The Lord said this in response to the folks who accused him of healing a man with an unclean spirit of doing so in the name of Satan!
You say I am empowered by Satan. But if Satan is divided and fighting against himself, how can his kingdom survive? - Luke 11:18 (NLT)
The simple answer to the Lord’s question it CANNOT survive. No kingdom or nation, no system or government, no family or church, divided against itself can survive.
Nothing can be accomplished if we’re living in a Divided States of America.
One kingdom that is not divided, is the Kingdom of Darkness! Team Satan is UNITED on all fronts to divide and conquer the faith of people who profess Christ and those who don’t know Him as Lord and Savior.
The Enemy of your soul doesn’t care who you are, where you come from, where you live or how much money you have. His overarching goal is to:
Steal, Kill and Destroy.
We are not each other’s enemy.
The pandemic and the ensuing mandates on vaccinated and unvaccinated people have caused an even greater divide amongst Americans. People are distrustful of each other and turning friends into foes. Again, this distrust extends to those in the church, too. Folks, we are not each other’s enemy.
This is the time for the church to be the Church.
Sincerely praying for each other and for the events around the world, and humbling ourselves under the mighty hand of God.
Regardless of what side of the fence you lean on regarding masks, vaccines, politics, etc… We need unity, not division.
We need GOD.
Jesus, explicitly prayed that His believers would be one as He and the Father are One.
And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one - John 17:22
The Lord in His grace, has equipped His saints with His glory to accomplish this unity.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! - Psalm 133:1
This is when God will command His blessings on us.
Today, let us honor the Lord’s prayer and be One with Him!
Be Encouraged!

Prayer: Father, I ask that you forgive us for our disobedience in not heeding Your Word to love one another as You loved and gave Your Son up for us. Help us to be Your Light in this dark world.
In Jesus’ Name Amen!
What a great post and title! The division amongst believers breaks my heart. One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to unify the body of Christ. Lord, help us to be united in Christ.
Valerie, thank you for your kind words! Yes! I’m in agreement with that prayer! Only through us allowing the power of the Holy Spirit can be one in Christ.
