I am a true sprouting vine, and the farmer who tends the vine is my Father. 4 So you must remain in life-union with me, for I remain in life-union with you. For as a branch severed from the vine will not bear fruit, so your life will be fruitless unless you live your life intimately joined to mine.
5 “I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless. – John 15:1, 4-5 The Passion Translation
As I read John 15 yesterday, I began to think about how important it is to be connected to what I call the Vine of Christ. Right now we’re disconnected physically because of our new “normal” of social distance. However, we can still be connected to Jesus who is the Vine.
It’s critical to remain in Him during this time of confinement that finds us isolated from our families and in many cases our churches. This is not the time for any of us to lean to our own understanding of what we think may be happening with this pandemic.
It’s also not the time for us to slink back from the Word of God.
In my post 3 Things to Stop and Start During the Coronavirus, I outlined 3 things we need to start. Releasing our faith at this time is one of them. The Bible is our source of faith. It’s also our source of strength, and quiet as it’s kept, our source of Life in the Vine of Christ.
During this critical time in our history, let’s take Jesus’ advice and remain in Him. When we do Jesus tells us that we’ll bear fruit, and our Heavenly Father will be glorified!
Be encouraged!

Prayer: Father, thank you for keeping me attached to the Vine of Your Son Jesus Christ. Help me during this stressful time to remain connected to you so that I can continue to bear fruit and glorify You. In Jesus name! Amen
