who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:11
The other day while reading Chapter 1 in the Book of Acts, I found myself pausing at the phrase in verse 11: “this same Jesus”.
Funny how words can be easily overlooked when reading Scripture. You become so used to reading a verse that you can miss the significance of what is being said.
With that I found myself comforted as I read the verse. Comforted knowing that this same Jesus is the One John spoke of in his gospel:
In the beginning was the Word (JESUS), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (JESUS). – John 1:1
He is the One, whom the Apostles spent 3 years with, and whom Peter declared in Acts 2:36 was crucified and….is both LORD & CHRIST!
Understand that everything in the Scriptures points to THIS SAME JESUS.
The Lord refers to Himself as the Way, the Truth and the LIFE… The One the angels declared to the disciples will come back again.
As the holiday season is once again upon us, so too is the heartache for so many. Coupled with the societal angst of the pandemic still looming large.
For this reason, the words from the angel to the apostles in Acts 1:11 should come as a comfort. Why? Because it’s a wonderful reminder to us that even when life changes, and not necessarily for the better, we can know…this same
JESUS remains the SAME, yesterday TODAY & FOREVER!
Be encouraged!
