15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5:15-17
I say this with genuine love for my fellow brothers and sisters in the Christian faith,… it’s timeout for being Disneyland granola Christians!
The Disneyland mindset of “so long as everything is good for my four and no more” is not God’s will for His church.
It’s timeout for being casual about the spiritual warfare that’s taking place in our society and in the church.
In other words, the Disneyland mindset of “so long as everything is good for my four and no more” is not God’s will for His church. Neither is the granola flaky, fruity, and nutty mindset. Those who are caught up within themselves, easily offended, and who are more concerned with how they feel, than with what truly matters in the Kingdom of God.
It’s time for believers to grow up in the things of God.
With this in mind, Paul’s words to the Ephesian church, should resonate with us as well, to be purposeful in our walk, and understand what God’s will is in these evil last days.
It’s time for believers to grow up in the things of God.
2020 has obviously not been the kindest year. So, we certainly cannot ignore what’s happening that has affected many of us personally, such as:
- The viral pandemic that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.
- Election chaos
- Natural and unnatural disasters
- Lawlessness in communities
The list could go on.
Moreover, a number of Christians are not looking at what’s happening in our world through the lens of scripture.
the will of God is where the sovereignty of God is known.
The verse in Ephesians speaks of the will of the Lord. We hear the term the “will of God“, or the “will of the Lord” a lot in Christendom. In essence, the will of God is where the sovereignty or reign of God is known.
So what does that look like? How can we walk as Paul says “circumspectly” and know what the will of the Lord is today?
Here are a few ways for us to walk in that wisdom and awareness of God’s will TODAY:
- Pray – everything begins with us praying and seeking God. – Romans 12:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Luke 21:36
- Read – The best way to find out God’s will, is found in God Word. Sounds simple, but unfortunately many believers don’t know God’s will because they don’t read it. Matthew 4:4; Luke 4:4; 1 Corinthians 10:3; 2 Timothy 3:16
- Have a servant’s heart. – Matthew 20:27-28; Mark 10:45; Luke 22:27
- Show the love of God to others in your sphere of influence including strangers. – Colossians 4:5; Hebrews 13:2
- Be aware of God’s presence. – Psalm 16:11; Psalm 21:6; Psalm 36:7
- Do not be conformed to the world around you. – Romans 12:2
With all of the above being said, there’s plenty of opportunity for all us to grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, as we navigate this tumultuous season.
Be Encouraged!
