21 This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. - Lamentations 3:21-23
We’re all in need of God’s mercies right now!
This scripture from the prophet Jeremiah in Lamentations is one of my personal favorites. It’s a beautiful reminder that no matter what we may go through or will go through God will not allow that THING to consume or devour us. Why? Because we have a heavenly Father who is a compassionate God who loves us and is FAITHFUL. Even when we’re not.
“Even though we can’t have all we want, we ought to be thankful we don’t get what we deserve.”- Unknown
We are all challenged by what we can’t have. All of us challenged by what we can’t do and where we can’t go. People who are unemployed find themselves challenged by what they don’t or can’t have. This quote by an unknown author makes a very valid statement in that we need to be thankful that we don’t get what we deserve. God is NOT giving us what we all deserve in spite of our sinful nature and tendencies. That my friends is the very definition of MERCY.
In this time we’re living in we need all of God’s mercies right now.
Sometimes I know I’ve been out of order in an area of my life whether it’s saying the wrong thing to my husband or kids, or not doing something when I know I should. Whenever I quote this verse I’ll add that it’s of God’s mercies that I’m not consumed… by what I do, and what I don’t do. Friends this is something we can be thankful to God for.
In this time we’re living in we need all of God’s mercies right now. We need all of His compassion. I’m thankful for how He shows me His new mercies every day for myself and my family when we wake up in the morning. I’m thankful that He’s faithful to me and my family even when I may be faithless and have my own doubts about a situation. He can’t change who He is, and I’m so glad! Be Encouraged!
What mercies is God showing you in this season?
