Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. - Proverbs 18:4-7
How do you respond when life throws you lemons? Most likely you’re not saying I’ll go make some lemonade out of this. We, as mothers, wives, etc.., have a tendency to be very critical of ourselves and each other. OUCH!
The thing that really matters however is…
What is God saying about you?
The good news is, He says a lot, and it’s ALL good stuff!

Obviously, there is a lot of negative noise from social media channels. The negative, destructive comments tossed around the internet can be prevalent amongst followers of Christ just as much as anyone else.
The Scriptures speak volumes about our words and their effect. Here are just a few examples:
Matthew 12:37
For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.
Proverbs 10:19
When words are many, sin is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise.
Proverbs 12:13
An evil man is trapped by his rebellious speech, but a righteous man escapes from trouble.
Proverbs 13:3
He who guards his mouth protects his life, but the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.
Proverbs 21:23
He who guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from distress.
Of course we can’t forget this one:
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. – Proverbs 18:4-7
The point I’m making is that what we speak about ourselves and what others speak over us… matters.
One of the ways you can avoid saying the wrong thing about yourself is to say what God says about you.
5 Things God is Saying About You
- I know the plans I have for you. – Jeremiah 29:11
- I am for you, not against you – Romans 8:31
- You are mine. – Isaiah 43:1
- I will never leave you. – Joshua 1:5; Deuteronomy 31:8; Hebrews 13:5;
- I love you with an everlasting love. – Jeremiah 31:3
So the next time, you get the urge to say something negative about yourself or someone says something negative about you… SAY WHAT GOD says.
