Why Should We Give Thanks In Everything?

1 Thessalonians 5:18 -  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Here we are in 2021 by God’s grace into the beginning of the holiday season celebrating Thanksgiving. Of course many people are not in a celebrating mood this Thanksgiving because of loss of loved ones. However, the Lord tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are to give THANKS IN EVERYTHING. Why Should We Give Thanks In Everything?

The Lord didn’t tell us to give thanks FOR everything because He knows that everything that happens in our life is not something to be thankful for.

However, we can be thankful in every circumstance of our life.

It’s not always easy, but it’s GOD’s will for our life in Christ Jesus which is reason enough.

Secondly, we can be thankful in everything by doing as the writer in Hebrews explains in Chapter 12 verse 2.

..looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

We can look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith, and is our Beginning and End.

Because of the JOY set before HIM, ENDURED the CROSS on our behalf, not minding the shame that came with that bloody Cross!

As a result, Jesus, our Lord is seated at the right hand of the Father continuously making intercession on behalf of us.

It is for this very reason that in EVERYTHING we endure on this side of life, we can all give thanks!
