“What is your word for 2022?”
I’ve been seeing the trend on social media asking that question. I think it’s a great question to ponder in the new year to have a word that speaks to you personally and use it as your theme or motto.
Of course with any trend, it’s easy to get caught up in the emotion of it, but not continue with it. Sort of like everyone’s goal at the beginning of the year to lose weight, exercise, eat better, etc…
If I had to have a word for this year, it would be TRUST. Specifically to trust and take God at His Word. As a matter of fact this should be a universal goal for all believers regardless of the year.
Taking God at His WORD means we seize it and don’t let go no matter what!
The stench of fear and anxiety over the virus continues to linger into 2022. Given that, how much more seriously do we need take the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:8 and 25
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
“it’s saying the right thing, when the wrong thing is happening.”
Taking God at His WORD means we seize it and don’t let go no matter what!
To put it another way, I’ll quote something my pastor, from The HOPE, says frequently in regards to faith:
“It’s saying the right thing, when the wrong thing is happening”.
– Marc S. Bryant, Pastor
This statement reflects perfectly where our trust in the Lord should lie based on what He’s spoken to us in the Scriptures.
Saying the right thing while wrong circumstances are happening is difficult. But, to do this means having full assurance that our Heavenly Father will handle those circumstances on our behalf. That is FAITH.
Ultimately, taking God at His Word boils down to what Jesus said to us in verse 25:
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life…
As we transition into 2022, let’s encourage ourselves in the Lord, and take His Words to heart.
Let’s not worry about our life.
Happy New Year!
